A meadow in the heart of the Volov Hills #4492

Welcome to our meadow in the valley of the Smolník stream. We offer camping surrounded by the nature of the wild Volovské hills.

The meadow is located on the outskirts of the village under the forest. You will find plenty of privacy, but at the same time it is a short walk to "civilization". The village Smolník is located on the border of Gemer and Spiš, it has a rich past and so here, in addition to the beautiful surrounding countryside, you will also find interesting mining and technical monuments. Discover the adits in the surroundings (one of the nature trails leads along the edge of our meadow), the old tobacco factory building, the historical centre of the village, or the nearby taich - the lake Úhorná, which is a popular place for swimming, water sports, but also fishing.

Cyclists, hikers and adventurers will come into their own - the SNP Heroes' Trail passes in close proximity, but there are plenty of possibilities. The Volovské vrchy mountains with their forest remnants are a paradise for nature lovers - they are a protected bird area and are one of the few places where you can still find the ruffed grouse, but they are also inhabited by, for example, the lynx.

For a relaxing break, just take a stroll through the surrounding woods and meadows behind the hills, enjoy the view of the valley from the gigantic bench on the hill opposite, discover the history of the Rotenberg adit along the nature trail next to the meadow, or take a walk in the nearby Štós spa with the cleanest air in Slovakia. There are several grocery stores, a restaurant, a pub/café, a post office and a pharmacy in the village.

Apart from the camping site, we do not yet offer any other facilities. So currently we are happy to welcome trailers and vans with their own sanitary facilities (or tents in the same group of campers). Once toilets are built, campers are also welcome :)

If needed, access to electricity or utility water can be arranged a few dozen meters from the campsite (not always possible). The meadow is flat and conveniently accessible by paved road.

Visitors are advised that this is an open meadow, please do not expect an English lawn, although we try to keep the camping pitches as comfortable as possible within reason.

Dogs are welcome, but as lynx, roe deer and even the neighbour's sheep like to stop by, we recommend that you keep your pets on a lead.
The campsite is managed by OZ Medená dolina.
